VoIP Readiness
The value of network assessments
IP telephony in its purest form is easy to implement and support. Once, however, you start running multiple applications over the same infrastructure, the simple part goes out the window. TriNET believes that no matter how good the existing network is, it is imperative that we check it prior to introducing voice to the current data environment. If your network is expected to carry any significant amount of voice traffic or IP Trunking, the network should be further analyzed by the addition of the Network Readiness Assessment (NRA). The NRA includes information in a detailed report including: - Data and Voice Network Topology Maps and Network Design
- Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) Diagrams
- Voice Network Diagrams
- A current base-lining of the customer’s network (Jitter, Packet Loss, Delay)
- A simulated traffic assessment for the engineered call distribution. Based on the number of engineered calls across the network, the assessment will provide a MOS for voice quality across your present network
- A stress test that will provide a maximum concurrent call threshold given the network conditions under an acceptable call quality. The test will also provide for reasoning why call quality begins to drop at certain thresholds
TriNET feels that running these tests will quickly determine how well the application will perform prior to installation. If the NRA passes, then the implementation can proceed. If the NRA reveals some weakness or less than optimal conditions, then remediation work can be performed prior to implementation. These steps save a lot of headaches, trouble shooting and poor performance related issues, making the implementation go off without a hitch!
